Frank Kerr............29 April 2006 NICKNAME WAS VARIOUS DEPENDING ON WHO WAS TALKING TO ME. SOMETIMES - GEORGE - GINGE - SCRIBES. JOHN QUINN........25 March 2005 Meant to say when I signed the book that I was on duty the night she ran aground trying to leave Hong Kong harbour . I was in the forward diesel room when it happened and will never forget the angle she listed to as she mounted the rocks. "Just as well I had my brown cords on at the time". The skipper and half the crew were ashore when we got the call to sail and look for a downed airliner which had apparently gone down in the tycoon that raging at the time in the south china sea. The gunnery officer was the senior man on duty and he attempted to take us out to sea, unfortunately for him, we ran aground. He and the captain (can't remember his name now), were both severely repremanded. It was a pity for the skipper, as he was a great guy. We had a great ships company then, does anyone remember the choir we had then, singing sea shanties. It was a great excuse for a piss up. There were other bad time during that commissioning when one of the stewards mu rdered a guy when we were in Aukland. the New Zealand CID caught up with us in Albany Australia a month after we sailed and arrested him. Fun and games right enough, but great memories of my time on Danae, it's good to be in touch with you guys. James Learmonth.............19 August 2005 Served pre commish, first commish, part of second, pissed to find I'm not on crew list, was chippies striker and flight fire crew for most of above, living in usa, like to hear from somebody. Hey that's a good
one Ray.
Mr. Lester, your attempts to insult my wife in this manner is merely compounding your apparent lack of good taste and maturity which would normally be associated with the host of a public website. I suggest you think carefully before sharing any potentially libelous emails to other members of your or any other website as it may well result in future ramifications. My wife was not given her credentials as you suggest, and she very much learned by what she was taught; Did you? It is apparent you still hold on to some of the values I also enjoyed whilst serving in the RN, they were good times. Your assumption that everyone you emailed found the content humourous underlines your mis - understanding of the changing values held by many people and illustrates an intolerance rarely found in someone so well travelled.
An apology for sending an off
colour unsolicited email would have been the gentlemanly thing
to do. You may still wish to do so.
